THANKS TO YOU
The BMES PTO entered this school year with an aggressive fund raising agenda, aimed at optimizing the support we could provide to BMES in light of recent budget cuts we faced. At the midway point on the school year, we're so grateful for your involvement in these efforts, and the impact that together we've been able to make.
A few examples of how your contributions have made a difference in just the past two months:
- Thanks to you, we were able to donate $5000 to BMES for the purchase of upgraded computers and other items needed to improve computers in each of our classrooms. A copy of the technology proposal presented to the BMES PTO Executive Board for its consideration can be found here.
- Thanks to you, we were able to donate $3000 to BMES for new math materials that will support the school's new academic goals.
- Thanks to you, we were able to donate $3000 to BMES for the purchase of a new Risograph machine, or industrial copy machine, to offset the burden placed on our teachers after we lost our prep room staff to budget cuts.
- Thanks to you, we were able to donate an additional $1200 to the school's Accelerated Reader program this year, to ensure that our new AR program effectively came on line and was made comparably successful to other AR programs running throughout the District.
Also, thanks to you, between just August and mid-November, we were able to raise for BMES more than $5000 through 2009/2010 PTO memberships, $6000 through Sally Foster sales, $3000 through cookie dough sales, more than $2000 through Box Tops clippings, and $2000 -- plus new books for our library valued at $1000 -- through our recent Book Fair.
We understand that these are very difficult economic times, and we genuinely appreciate all that our families and friends do to support our school. Without your involvement, these and other numerous donations to the school, our students and faculty could not have been realized.
"When we recognize that a better word for fundraising is “friend raising,” we open limitless doors to creativity in support
of our causes."
