Very special thanks to Heather Lauchner and Lauren Rodriguez for throwing the best darn Fall Festival ever. They outdid themselves this year, and we're so fortunate that they were willing to throw themselves headlong into the event this year. They created a fabulous event and a fun time for all.
A big thank you is also in order for all of the other PTO volunteers who gave their time and talent to the Fall Festival this year, including: Alea Becwar, Althea Sassman, Amanda Maxwell, Annabelle and Amy Claire Abel, Bill Arrendale, Brenda Howard, Casey Hargett, Cathy Ohlhausen, Dawson Dopp, Dezirae Baciewicz, Diane Friedman, Elisabeth Lukehart, Gina Finley, Jan Kennedy, Janet Kennedy, Jody Chase, Karen Anderson, Kristina Bootz, Leonora Farrah, Lori Kelchner, Lynda Person, Margie Foreman, Michelle Adair, Rania Fair, Rhonda Falotico, and Todd Knape. This list is under development, so, if you don't see your name here when it should be, check back soon...it will be here soon.

Parent teacher conferences for the first marking period took place in mid October. As always, the PTO hosted a Teacher Conference Luncheon and a Teacher Conference Breakfast. Special thanks go out to Cathy Ohlhausen and Ann Prescott, our Teacher Luncheon Committee Chairs, as well as the many other volunteers who contributed food and other treats to this event, for creating such a wonderful feast for our teachers.

Special thanks to Heather Lauchner for almost single-handedly taking on the lead Chair position for Sally Foster this year. (We know Lauren Rodriguez backed her up, and we appreciate her immensely too.) Stay tuned for updates about Sally Foster prize winners, product sales and BMES PTO funds raised.

- Our hats go off to Jan Boley, who scored big in short order, with a reinvigorated Box Tops effort. After a dormant year last year, Jan has turned this program around early in the new school year, already bringing in $1300 for the school. She's shown us all just what a pinch of enthusiasm, a dash of commitment, and a whole lot of heart can do. Thank you Jan.
- Jan Boley and Alice Relkin are fired up and ready to go, and Cash For Trash is their new mantra. The PTO needs more high energy folks like these. Stay tuned for more information about their upcoming plans...and keep an eye out for the traveling rubber chicken.
The Week Ending Friday, August 7th
A few busy weeks getting ready to go back to school, and therefore many thanks are in order:
- Heather Lauchner and Lauren Rodriguez worked tirelessly to magically transform a dusty, dirty Room 501 into a wonderful new PTO meeting room and retreat. Janet Kennedy single handedly did all the painting without complaint. Thank you ladies for making this long-awaited improvement a beautiful reality.
- Amanda Maxwell gave of her time, going from classroom to classroom before the start of school, setting up each teacher's Giving Tree.
- Cathy Ohlhausen once again delighted teachers with homemade goodies she served up at the PTO-hosted back-to-school luncheon for teachers...and she did it all by herself. Cathy is a culinary machine.
- Tracey Saliba created one of the most fabulous bulletin boards we've ever seen (see photo below). Thank you Tracey for lending your wonderful creativity and talent to BMES. You make us look so much better.
- Vickie England, Tracey Saliba and Karen Anderson ran the SchoolKidz station at the New Year's Eve event with ease. These three ladies make it look easy -- we know it's not. They make a great team.
- Kristina Bootz brought her wonderful style and spirit to the New Year's Eve event, by running the Spirit Wear stand.
- Thank you to all Committee Chairs - Darcy Schuster, Beth Tews, Jan Boley, Kelli Siegel and Laura Mesenbrink - who spruced up their Committee posters on short notice for display and presentation at the New Year's Eve event. Thanks too to Elisabeth Lukehart, for stopping by and stepping in to help prepare for New Year's Eve.
